Spherical Titanium Alloy Powders

Spherical Titanium Alloy Powders

Spherical titanium alloy powders have a high level of sphericity, low oxygen content, high density and controlled grain size. These properties are necessary to make it compatible with countless industrial applications.

There are many applications for titanium alloy powders, some of which include

  • Metal Injection molding
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Thermal spray
  • Cold isostatic pressing
  • Hot isostatic pressing

Titanium is characterized by low weight in combination with high mechanical strength. But due to this, it’s composition is brittle and difficult to process in traditional processes. This is precisely why additive manufacturing is a great mode of application for this powder.

Some common characteristcs/properties of Titanium include:

  • Excellent heat transfer properties
  • High melting point – 3,135 degrees Fahrenheit (This is 400 degrees above the melting point of steel and 200 degrees above that of aluminum)
  • A high degree of resistance to minerals, acids, and chlorides
  • Non-toxic – Makes it a candidate for use in medical devices that are inserted in the human body

Due to it’s high strength properties and high temperature mechanical properties, titanium is an interesting applicant in aerospace engines and turbine components. It can result in upto 60% weight reduction and the high mechanical strength promises reduced CO2 emissions, among other things, making titanium the material of the future for lightweight construction in the automotive industry. Specific alloys such as Ti64 grade 23 (Ti6Al4V) is a titanium alloy especially in demand in medical technology for hip implants. Due to it’s great properties, long life and lightweight.

We carry several Spherical Titanium Alloy Powders and other metal powders in our store:
